What it’s November already!

Well, October flew past in a blink of an eye, although some of that was because we spent two weeks holidaying in Mexico. I did manage to sell some ‘This Britain’ prints at the Chichester Yacht Club, which was a pleasant bonus, and I’ve already booked to display there again next September — so I’d best get on with some new paintings.

This brings me to my current lack of painting: I don’t think I’ve picked up a paintbrush in the last four or five months. I have a new large canvas propped against an easel and have parked the Bosham painting for a while, at least until a proper spirit of inspiration returns.

On the drawing front, I’m still busy with the DarkWood sketchbook and even took it with me to Mexico, so I had a little time to draw on the flight and plenty of opportunities to sketch while my wife sat in the sun reading her books. I don’t usually sunbathe or enjoy it, so most of the time I escape to some shade and draw. I did manage to get the drawings below completed, or at least well on their way to completion, so a productive spell was had in Mexico. :-)

Back in the studio, it's now the run up to Christmas and I'm also returning to my day job, so free time will be in high demand; with the clocks in winter mode most people begin to hibernate as the nights draw in and it starts to get cold. That rhythm affects me too, and I find myself working less out of the studio (even with the heater its a little chilly at times), carving pockets of time to keep the work alive.
