End of Summer 2025
Well, normally you blink and you have missed summer altogether, but this year has been a truly great, hot summer with very little rain and plenty of glorious sunshine to enjoy. It is now just a few days before the end of August, and with the rain finally arriving, it genuinely feels like summer came to a close right after the Monday bank holiday. The only hope we have now is to wish for an Indian summer in September, bringing back some warmth and light before the cooler months set in.
On the painting front, I have started to work again on ‘This Britain Number 11’ (see below) after a few months just staring at me from the wall easle. For the next painting, I think I will try to develop a detailed sketch beforehand, as I’ve been struggling somewhat with the usual organic approach I typically take. This is especially true around the foreground, which has already undergone several layers of overpainting to shift perspective and composition. Time will tell if I over paint it again.
THIS BRITAIN 11
I am sure if I planned this better and had a detailed sketch it would be a lot easier to paint..
I keep telling myself its the journey that matters.
I also have a selection of my smaller prints available at the Emsworth Gallery. If anyone is interested in purchasing a print, it’s a wonderful way to support a fantastic local business while bringing a unique piece of art into your home.
So that’s it for now, lots going on so more update to follow….
